This heartfelt collection includes five short stories and a crowning novella entitled Rebuild.

Replant: Leif's childhood is marred by abuse and neglect, but when the Frost family visits his family's orchards, unexpected and unforeseen miracles arise. This story takes place during 1884 through 1888.

Rebuild: A companion novella to Joanna Reeder's Frost Boarding House Trilogy. After being chased by the dragon who killed his selkie fiancée, Leif avoids bringing further danger to the Frost home by staying away. His unexplained departure unknowingly hurts his beloved adoptive sister, Camilla, and in the darkest moments for both of them, they find light and hope in each other. This story takes place during 1899 through 1907.

Refuel: On a lonely Thanksgiving evening, Leif discovers a new facility dedicated to drawing and storing blood for the purposes of saving human lives. The newly opened blood bank provides an opportunity that would allow him to never again have to sink his fangs into the flesh of another person. Leif is forced to weigh the lesser of two evils: harming humans versus stealing from them. This story takes place in 1946.

Relocate: Over a decade after the destruction of the old shifter school on La Framboise Island in South Dakota, Oberon Rex visits Leif and offers to move him to Chicago, close to the new School for the Shifted. The gryphon's goal is to have Leif keep an eye on vampire activity in the area to avoid another violent incident. Leif must choose between keeping his low profile in the woods of Washougal, Washington, or to join the shifters in their efforts against vampire leader Draven Denholm and his followers. This story takes place in 2010.

Recollect: After being married to the resurrected selkie Gemma MacLugh for six years, Leif enjoys his life in the rebuilt Frost home where his family lives. With two daughters and another child on the way, nothing could go better for the former vampire. But when his pregnant wife accidentally uses magic, a memory resurfaces in Leif's mind, and it's one he doesn't recognize. This story takes place three years after Only Human.

Reveal: Leif and Gemma have Oberon and his young family over for dinner, as well as an in-person invitation for their daughter, Camilla MacLugh, to attend the School for the Shifted the following school year. But Leif is also presented with a surprise invitation that could very well change the course of his intended future. This story takes place ten years after Only Human.

Recollect Cover Reveal and Announcement!

 

I'm excited to announce my latest project, one that I've been working on for the past few months. "Recollect" was an unexpected and unplanned idea that came to fruition in September.

Back in 2021, I wrote a short story about Leif Villers that takes place several years after the events of the "Reclaim Trilogy." It was intended to be a supplemental story for a boxed set release of that same trilogy. That project never happened.

After writing Leif's novel "Only Human" in 2024, I returned to that short story to update it and fix some continuity to make it better tie into the published canon of the Shifter Academy universe. It was then that I realized that there were many more stories to tell about Leif Villers.

While writing "High Winds," I documented various short story ideas for Leif. It wasn't until after completing Oberon Rex's novel that I realized there weren't just a bunch of "what happened next" stories that needed to be written for Leif, but many of his past experiences that never received the detail they deserved.

As of this post, I'm sitting at 80% completion of the collection. The idea is 5 short stories, as well as a crowning novella. I'm currently in the process of writing the final chapter of the novella, named "Rebuild."
